Filmmaker debunks America’s ‘obesity crisis’

Is there truly an “obesity crisis” in America? A new film, America the Beautiful 2, aims to debunk that concept.

Filmmaker Darryl Roberts’ argument that health should be viewed independent of weight or obesity was a hard sell at first.

After all, over 72 million adults and 12.5 million children and adolescents are obese. That sounds like a crisis to me.

I had lots of questions about the connection between fat cells and consequential diseases like diabetes. But, after speaking with him, an obesity expert and a nutritionist, I have a slightly different view. Especially, after seeing Roberts improve his blood pressure and cholesterol without losing much weight.

The arguments on both sides of this debate are strong… Read it for yourself and decide.
